Job Description

About the Role

Due to expansion within our organisation, we currently have multiple opportunities for talented Mechanical Designers to join our growing team. As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a pivotal role in creating detailed technical drawings and documentation for a variety of projects within the resources, civil, and defense sectors.

Some of the duties you will be responsible for include:

  • Preparation of technical documents, such as proposal drawings, operation manuals, test plans, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Ensuring adherence to applicable standards in all design activities.
  • Maintaining clarity and precision in technical information, and providing clear manufacturing instructions.
  • Implementation of rigorous document control procedures to ensure traceability and currency of all technical documentation.
  • Participation in the FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) process.
  • Conduct testing on prototypes and analyze test data.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and manage project expectations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for technical design inquiries.
  • Support the Quality team in inspecting manufactured components.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

To play a part in our continued expansion and success, we are seeking someone who ideally has:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Mechanical Design
  • Qualifications in drafting, engineering, or mechanical trade background
  • Proficient in preparing 3D models and drawings, using Solidworks
  • Experience with the Resource sector

In addition, the following would be considered highly advantageous:

  • 1+ years' experience in composite product design 
  • Knowledge of applicable drafting standards
  • Ability to work autonomously and work on several projects concurrently
  • High attention to detail
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well versed with the Microsoft office suite of products
